BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thousands of people have signed an online petition in support of a new Lloyd Taco Factory location hosting live music within city limits.

What You Need To Know

  • Lloyd Taco Factory is opening a third location at 716 Elmwood Ave.

  • It is subject to a city ordinance that prohibits live outdoor music

  • Plans for the new location include a patio and area for music

  • Thousands have signed a petition to change the ordinance and allow the music

Owners purchased the former Cecelia’s Ristorante building at 716 Elmwood Avenue and plan to turn it into a brick-and-mortar Lloyd Taco Factory location with a patio for live outdoor music, but because it is within city limits, it is subject to a city ordinance that prohibits live outdoor music.

"I get to listen to live music and eat tacos? I don't see how that could be a problem for me,” said Jon Davis, owner of Nickel City Nitro, a coffee-serving bike cart.

The petition has received more than 2,800 signatures and comments including some from people who say they live right behind the building.

Lloyd Taco Factory owners say they do not have a set date for opening and renovations will begin soon. This would be their third location in Buffalo.
