Three state lawmakers are calling for disaster assistance following the severe flooding earlier this week that ravaged neighborhoods in Niagara County.
Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt and Assemblymen Angelo Morinello and Mike Norris wrote a letter to Gov. Cuomo.
In it, they requested immediate coordination between the State Office of Emergency Management and the cities of Lockport, Niagara Falls and Niagara County.
The lawmakers say it is critical that residents, businesses and farmers get immediate financial help due for flood damage.
On Wednesday, homeowners spent the day cleaning out wet basements and crawl spaces, hauling couches, chairs and carpets to the curb.
Some cars even drove off the road and slid into ditches.
Plumbing crews were inundated with phone calls and had trouble keeping up with the demand.
