A former congressional candidate is calling for Erie County Democratic Committee Chairman Jeremy Zellner to step down.

Nate McMurray started a change.org petition, saying Zellner has too much power. The former Grand Island town supervisor accuses Zellner of using party resources and his role as chair to attach progressive candidates.

In a statement, Zellner says, in part, "Nate McMurray requested and received our endorsement in each of his three losing bids in the 27^th Congressional District."

He goes on to say that McMurray is entitled to his opinion and, "Mr. McMurray’s words and actions are those of a disgruntled, failed candidate and I will consider them on that basis."
