BUFFALO, N.Y. — Former Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller has announced plans to retire at the end of this season.

Miller spent 11 seasons with the Sabres from 2002-14, compiling a 284-186-57 record in 540 games. He holds Sabres franchise records in career wins (284), appearances (540), minutes (21,660:48) and single-season wins (41 in 2009-10). He won the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the league’s best goalie, in 2010.

He led Buffalo to the Eastern Conference Finals in both 2006 and 2007, joining fellow former Sabres goaltender Dominik Hasek as the only Buffalo netminders to reach consecutive Conference Finals.

Miller’s 390 wins are the most ever for an American-born goalie, and will retire second in shutouts (44) and games played (794) among U.S.-born goalies.
