CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Orthopedic surgeries are returning to Sisters of Charity Hospital’s St. Joseph campus after more than a year.

The hospital is not only reopening orthopedic care, but it's expanding it on campus.

All orthopedic cases will be shifted to Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, to the St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga. The goal is to make the campus the central location for all orthopedic care needs in in Western New York.

As this change is made, the St. Joseph campus as a whole will gradually close its ICU and most of its inpatient nursing units.

COVID-19 patients will no longer be admitted starting Thursday. All remaining COVID-19 patients are now isolated on a closed floor.

St. Joseph will reopen its emergency department in early May after some facility improvements.
