BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bills General Manager Brandon Beane has been named the Sporting News Executive of the Year.

The award comes after a regular season that saw the Bills go 13-3, winning the AFC East for the first time in 25 years.

Sporting News polled front-office staff across the NFL, so it's actually Beane's peers who say he deserves the recognition.

The Bills GM built the roster that is now one win away from a Super Bowl appearance, including the blockbuster trade that brought wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the team last summer.

Beane is the first Bills executive to win this award since Bill Polian in 1991. Polian also won the award in 1988.

Speaking of Diggs, Sporting News also polled players across the league, who picked Diggs as an All-Pro wide receiver. He shares that honor with Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams.

The Bills will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.
