State Assemblyman Pat Burke is calling on Congressman Chris Jacobs to resign following the chaos at the Capitol.

Burke accuses Jacobs of "legitimizing attacks against the election."

Burke says, "Those attacks against our democracy by Donald Trump and his followers led to insurrection and an attack against the United States of America. Chris Jacobs bears responsibility for his leadership failures."

Jacobs says that he objects to the certification of electoral college votes from swing states, saying the 2020 presidential election was contentious, leading several states to make changes to their electoral systems without authorization.

He says, "This troubling fact, along with countless reports of election irregularities, has left many Americans with valid concerns about the integrity of the November 3 presidential election because these concerns have yet to be properly adjudicated."

Jacobs says as a result he was supporting efforts to review those states' actions.
