For all the Bills' fans who harken back to the "glory days," we might be on the verge another era to remember with pride.
This year's edition is bringing back memories of the good times with dreams of even more.
A 13-3 record, their best since 1991. An AFC East division title, their first since 1995.
How about a home playoff game for the best fans around? The last time that happened was 1996.
Back then, it was names like Levy, Kelly, Thurman, Bruce and Andre. Now, it's McDermott, Allen, Diggs, Beasley and Tre'Davious on the marquee.
And how about that quarterback? Josh Allen is being mentioned with the elite, one of only a few in the conversation for the NFL's Most Valuable Player award.
Why not? All he's done is break Bills single-season records for passing yards and touchdowns among others in just his third year.
Not bad for a guy who many thought the Bills made a mistake when they drafted the talented, but raw, prospect out of Wyoming No. 7 overall in 2018.
His leap to the next level coincides with a new top target in town. Stefon Diggs came over in a trade, and promptly led the league in catches and receiving yards this season.
Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has pushed the right buttons, and the likes of Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, and others have all benefitied.
And just in time for January football, the defense is turning up the heat as the winter cold sets in. They've dominated since their bye week and appear to be peaking heading to the playoffs.
It's all been building since Head Coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane arrived in 2017, and the Bills snapped their 17-year playoff drought.
They've made three trips to the postseason in four years, but we know just getting there isn't enough for this team. After the heartbreak in Houston to end last season, the mission is for much more.
Bills Mafia will be along the for the ride, and in the stadium for the first time all season when the Bills host the Colts on Saturday in the Wild Card round.
It all makes the Bills serious contenders to make a long playoff run.
We're talkin' proud, and we're talkin' Super Bowl in these parts, and that's been a long time coming.
