BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Department of Health will soon have a new headquarters aimed at combatting the coronavirus.

On Sunday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted that the former Ticor Building will house the Department of Health's Pandemic Response teams.

Public Works Commissioner Bill Geary says that health department workers will have plenty of space to spread out, socially distance, and will have state-of-the-art internet and technology.

The building was originally a church and dates back to 1833, making it the oldest office building in the city of Buffalo. It will be renamed the Lincoln Building in honor of Abraham Lincoln, who once attended a service in it.

Construction began on June 1, and they hope to have it completed this month.
