AMHERST, N.Y. — A new space dedicated to helping people overcome trauma and begin to heal is now open in Amherst.

The Healing Hub of NY opened its doors on Glenn Drive this past weekend.

Amherst resident Kelly Whitfield started the volunteer organization, which provides a safe place for survivors of traumatic events to find help.

The Healing Hub provides mental health workshops, budgeting classes and even early childhood education.

"There’s a judgement and a stigma for reaching out for help. And we want to just offer anyone, we don’t care what your name is, we don’t care who you are, we just want you to know that you’re loved, you’re card for, you’re seen, and that there’s hope to heal,” Whitfield said.

The Healing Hub of NY also holds food drives in Buffalo on Fridays and Saturdays.
