BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres traded up in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft to select RW John-Jason Peterka. The Sabres trades the number 38 and 100 picks to the San Jose Sharks to acquire the number 34 overall pick.
Peterka, 18, was seen by many draft expects as a potential first round selection.
He had 4 goals with 6 assists in 7 games and his last 13 international U20 games 7 goals with 5 assists for Germany.
EliteProspects.com says of Peterka, "His unrelenting motor is a force multiplier in every zone. He's hard on every puck. He's an eager, willing combatant in board battles. He's violent, disruptive…He'll make second and third efforts where other players generally relent. He's rarely, if ever stationary, constantly scanning the ice when the puck isn't on his stick."
The Sabres selected RW Jack Quinn with the 8th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft.
