The former Erie County sheriff's deputy who beat a Bills fan at a tailgate party will face no jail time.

Kenneth Achtyl resigned from his job after a jury convicted him of reckless assault, official misconduct, and falsifying business records.

Achtyl was sentenced on Thursday to one year conditional discharge on each count. He also has to complete 150 hours of community service and faces several fines.

In December 2017, Achtyl arrested UB student Nick Belsito at a Bills game.

Achtyl attacked Belsito after Belsito asked about a friend who was arrested earlier that day.

Body camera and cell phone footage shows Achtyl hitting Belsito, breaking his nose and giving him a concussion.

He's also one of three deputies being sued for assault and battery after an East Otto man says they beat him up during a traffic stop.
