A line cook has been charged with assault for stabbing a Buffalo restaurant owner.

John R. Luper III was working in the kitchen at Cole's restaurant on Elmwood Avenue Sunday when he got into an argument with the establishment’s owner.

Luper, 29, is accused of stabbing the victim once in the torso with a chef knife.

The victim was treated for his injuries.

Luper is charged with one count of second-degree assault and is scheduled to return on Thursday for a felony hearing.

If convicted, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
