A 74-year-old man is dead after he was hit trying to cross the Thruway early Friday morning.
New York State Police responded to a crash on the I-90 westbound around 3:30 a.m. near Route 33.
They said the pedestrian, Robert Green of Buffalo, was pushing a shopping cart across the center lane of the highway when he was hit by a pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup truck’s driver, a 55-year-old man from Orchard Park, was not injured and showed no signs of being impaired by drugs or alcohol, Troopers said.
The driver, whose name has not been released, is not facing any charges at the time.
The highway was closed for several hours near the Walden Galleria as officers investigated the crash.
