Two Franciscan friars who worked at St. Bonaventure University and have since died are both under investigation for sexual assault.

The school said Father Gervase White and Father Cairnan Haggerty were members of Holy Name Province, and the order is looking into the accusations.

White worked at the school for nearly half a century, teaching and serving as dean of students before he died in 2002.

Haggerty was at Bonaventure for a little less than two years in the 80s, working as campus minister. He died in 1991.

The university said its records show no reports of abuse but it supports the provincial investigation.
