Have a case of baby fever? Put it to good use and help out mothers across Western New York.

Starting April 1, companies and residents of Erie County are encouraged to throw faux baby showers to help new moms who are struggling financially. The United Way of Erie County and John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital want people to host showers to collect items needed for new babies to help those mothers give their children a strong start.

“During our 10th year, we hope to hit the milestone of 10,000 baby bundles packed and distributed throughout the community to those families most in need,” said Michael Weiner, president and CEO of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.

People can donate diapers, wipes, bottles, and toys, all of which can be dropped off at the United Way’s headquarters or Oishei Children’s Hospital through May 9.
