The nation was serenaded by Buffalo's finest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Monday.

Singing Buffalo Police Officers Armonde “Moe” Badger and Michael Norwood, Jr. first became a sensation via social media, singing their way to the hearts of millions.

Producers of "Ellen" spotted video of the partners singing an Ed Sheeran hit.

It’s something the officers are used to doing in between calls.

"When something comes on the radio and we like it, we'll sing it," said Badger.

Spectrum News first introduced you to the officers a month and a half ago after they performed during R&B karaoke at the Tralf Music Hall.

On Monday, the duo shared their talents on "Ellen" with Motown hit, "My Girl," by The Temptations.

"They just provide a great spirit, great enthusiasm for the job of police officers," said Mayor Byron Brown. "They have really taken community police relations to heart."

Officer Norwood tells Spectrum News a lot of people have welcomed their style of policing.

"When they’re around us, they love to hear us sing," said Norwood. "For us it's an easier way of breaking those barriers between police and the community."

The officers haven't just been using their pipes to advance community policing in Buffalo.

Two years ago Badger, Norwood and Lt. Todd McAlister launched C.O.P.S.S., which stands for Children Overcoming Police Stereotypes through Sports.

"We wanted to come up with a program to give back to the community," said Norwood.

The program for at-risk youth got its largest donation ever from Ellen DeGeneres.

"I think what you’re doing is a lot of good in that community," DeGeneres told the officers during the taping. “We wanna give your foundation a check for $10,000."

The officers plan to use the funds to advance their community policing initiatives with C.O.P.S.S.

C.O.P.S.S. will be in seven high schools this year and will host a celebrity basketball game.
