Police are investigating a pair of deadly shootings this weekend in Buffalo.

A 31-year-old woman was shot multiple times at 76 Eller Ave., just before 11 p.m. Saturday. Police say she was taken to the hospital where she ultimately died.

The victim was identified Monday afternoon as Jasmine Harrison of Buffalo.

Shortly after 3 a.m., an officer responded to a second shooting at the corner of Broadway and Lathrop Street, outside The Groove Lounge. A 28-year-old Buffalo man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Steve Cohen, the attorney who represents The Groove Lounge, says what happens on the streets of Buffalo is not a reflection or the responsibility of the bar. He says the owners believe the victim was inside the bar and shot after leaving. The suspect, however, never entered their business.

"The knee-jerk reaction of certain politicians is 'Well, there was a shooting outside the premises, let's shut down the premises.' And that's not the answer," Cohen added. "If criminals know the area is monitored by video and police have access to that video, they'll take their crime elsewhere."

Since a shooting last summer, Cohen says the lounge has added lighting to the front, side, and rear of building. It has also installed cameras inside and outside. Surveillance video showing the incident has been handed over to police.

At this time police are still combing through video and conducting interviews. They don't believe the incidents were related but also don't believe they were random acts of violence.

Neither shooting victim has been identified at this time. No arrests have been made.
