2. Working Families Party endorses state Sen. Sean Ryan in Buffalo mayoral race

The party previously supported Ryan in both state Senate and Assembly campaigns and said his work in the state Legislature, especially with regards to affordable housing, was a key factor in the decision.

3. Increasing efforts to protect older New Yorkers from scams

Advocates are urging lawmakers to include an initiative to train bank tellers and other financial institution employees to recognize signs of scams. It's something Gov. Kathy Hochul has included in her budget proposal.

4. Mayor: City of Lackawanna considers 'modest tax increase'

This comes after the city's financial metrics showed strong growth last year with multi-million dollar increases in both the general fund and the city's unassigned fund balance.
