Good evening, Buffalo. We're wrapping up the day for you with the most important stories you need to know and your weather outlook.

Your Weather Planner

The lake-effect snow south of the city of Buffalo will intensify later today as the band becomes better organized to the east of Lake Erie. That's when we could see snowfall rates upwards of 2" per hour, and maybe even some thundersnow. Strong wind gusts will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow within the lake effect. The approximate cut-off from heavy lake snow to flurries will be roughly around Route 20A.

A wind shift to the west-northwest Tuesday will press the band farther south. With that wind shift here in Buffalo, we will see some snow showers on Tuesday with lake bands off Huron and Georgian Bay, perhaps enough for a slick spot, but minimal accumulation. It'll be another blustery one Tuesday, but even colder air will filter in. So regardless if you see some snow or not on Tuesday, plan on wind chills in the single digits and teens.

Lake-effect snow chances will linger on into Wednesday before slowly tapering off.
