The University at Buffalo is assessing the impact of COVID-19 and highlighting accomplishments from throughout the pandemic.

UB President's delivered the ninth annual state of the university address virtually Friday. President Satish K. Tripathi highlighted the university's accomplishments in the midst of a pandemic, including transitioning 4,000 classes from in-person to remote in ten days and conducting COVID-19 research.

Finances were not as optimistic though- reductions from the state due to the deficit are expected to be around 30 to $40 million.

This will force the university to cut expenses by 22%.

While Tripathi expects the university to have a financial strain for the foreseeable future, he says the school was on sound financial footing before the pandemic and will be after as well.
