Editor's note - 11/29/22 - The Niagara County District Attorney's Office has confirmed to Spectrum News 1 that Brian Lasher was found not guilty of the charges that were brought against him, which brings this case to a full conclusion.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A Starpoint Middle School gym teacher has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of several sex crimes.

Brian Lasher, 56, has been charged with third-degree criminal sex act, third-degree sex abuse and third-degree attempted rape.

According to criminal complaints filed in Niagara Falls City Court, Niagara Falls Police say that Lasher and another man had non-consensual sex with another person in February 2021 inside the Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino.

Lasher pleaded not guilty, was released from police custody and is currently being monitored by probation officers. He is due back in court in January.

Lasher has worked for the Starpoint Central School District for at least two decades.

Superintendent Dr. Sean Croft sent out a letter to parents Tuesday to make them aware of the arrest, but parents were only told that "unlawful conduct was made toward another adult."

The district did not immediately return a request for comment on the charges Lasher is facing.
