BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department says it is investigating multiple shootings over the last week, including incidents that left six people dead. Children are among the surviving victims, according to authorities.

Investigators also say they are seeing about 48% more gun arrests than last year.

The most recent shooting happened Sunday night around 11:30 p.m. near Broadway and Bailey Avenue. Authorities say a man was shot multiple times before being brought to ECMC. There is no word yet on his condition.

Early Sunday morning, officials say officers were called to the area around Playter and Kent streets where they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released. Police say a 27-year-old man was also shot multiple times on North Ogden Street. He also died at the scene. Detectives say the second victim appears to have been targeted in the shooting. There's no word on whether these shootings are related.

Last Thursday morning, police responded to a report of a shooting at an alleged drug house on Ashley Street. Three people died in that incident, officials say. They believe this incident was also targeted.

And Wednesday evening, shots were fired from a car that pulled up to JFK Park, police say. Four people were hurt, including two children, an 8-year-old and a 14-year-old.

Buffalo has now had 47 homicides so far this year.
