A Buffalo man has been sentenced for causing a car crash that seriously injured a person.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office says 21-year-old Antonio Gutierrez will spend two years at the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden after he pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Gutierrez admitted to speeding away when police tried to detain him on Weiss Street back on March 29, and eventually causing a crash on Seneca Street when he hit a vehicle that then crashed into a school bus.

No one on the bus was injured, but the driver of the other vehicle suffered serious spinal injuries.

Gutierrez also had his driver's license suspended for one year, and he will be required to use an ignition interlock device in any vehicle he tries to drive after that the following year.
