People across the Buffalo area are preparing to celebrate Dyngus Day with the traditional festival and parade in Buffalo on Monday.

The springtime celebration of Polish heritage typically brings tens of thousands of people to the city.

After a scaled-down event last year, organizers are expecting a sea of red and white in the Historic Polonia District.

There will be events starting as early as 8 a.m. with free food and live music, at several locations around the neighborhood.

That's all leading up to the 16th annual parade at 5 p.m., marching down Broadway from Memorial and Paderewski Drive.

The North Tonawanda Neighborhood Watch will have their second-annual Dyngus Day Parade starting at 5 p.m. down Oliver Street from 10th Avenue to Thompson Street.

Following the parade, there will be a party hosted by the Sweeney Hose Fire Company at Heritage Park, featuring a beer tent with live music to benefit their fire hall.
