BUFFALO, N.Y. — In Erie County, voters made a choice in the Democratic primary for county clerk.

Eden Town Supervisor Melissa Hartman, who was endorsed by the Erie County Democratic Party, is projected to defeat incumbent Clerk Mickey Kearns to represent the party in the November election.

Hartman collected more than 63% of the vote with Kearns taking about 36%. But that doesn't mean Kearns is finished. He is still set to run in November on the Republican and Conservative tickets.

Kearns is looking to win a second full-term as Erie County clerk. He was first elected to the seat in 2017 to replace then-Clerk Chris Jacobs, who was elected to the New York State Senate.
