Broome County is reporting an increase in overdose deaths since the start of the year.

Data gathered from the first quarter of 2022 by the Broome County Health Department shows that reported overdoses to date are higher than those in 2021.

The report shows 21 suspected fatal overdoses and 147 non-fatal ones.

This was in the first few months of the year alone.

Last year, there were 54 suspected fatal overdoses and 516 reported non-fatal overdoses.

The Broome Opioid Awareness Council is reminding residents that free Narcan training is available both in-person and online.
