Communities across New York are observing both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday.

Binghamton is getting ready to host its annual Columbus Day Tournament of Bands Parade and Italian Festival at 10 a.m. in the city's downtown.

The Binghamton office of Economic Development says the parade will include marching bands from six different high schools, competing for awards in multiple categories, including performance and color guard.

There will be some outstanding Italian cuisine as well.

The city says this is the 65th year for the marching band tournament.

As a reminder, a number of communities will be closing their offices in connection with the holiday.

Be sure to check your local government office hours online, and plan accordingly.
