A well-known figure in Broome County has been arrested and accused of drunk driving for a second time.

Deputies say 35-year-old James Worhach hit a car Friday night when he ran a red light at the intersection of Downs Avenue and Prospect Street in the Town of Dickinson.

Worhach was treated for a minor head injury and the other driver wasn't hurt. According to deputies, Worhach's blood alcohol was more than three times the legal limit and he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Worhach was also arrested for a DWI crash back in 2014. He was serving as the spokesperson for County Executive Debbie Preston at the time.

Worhach accepted a plea deal in which he'd be placed on probation for five years, enter into a substance abuse treatment program, and participate in a weekend work program with the sheriff's office.

Worhach is currently a spokesman for the district attorney's office and is president of The Children’s Charity of Greater Binghamton.
