A new, scenic outlook at the Roundtop Picnic Area in Endicott has officially opened for Broome County neighbors to get outside and enjoy while socially distancing.
The outlook has been known to have beautiful views of the Susquehanna River, but overgrown vegetation in recent years has obstructed that view.
Thanks to a state grant, fixing up the outlook became part of a greater project to enhance the waterfront.
"I mean, we've been stuck in our houses, in our own yards, and it's just nice to come up and get a change of scenery. It's so pretty. It had gotten overgrown, too. Sit here and look out and see how far you really can see; it's really kind of impressive," said Endicott resident Joanne Bill.
A hiking trail connects Roundtop and Grippen Parks in the waterfront area, and more trails will be built in the future to connect with other nearby parks.
