The Chenango Forks Marching Band has been selected to represent New York in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

The group was nominated by Congressman Anthony Brindisi. More than 10,000 people join the parade each year, and this group is definitely excited for the opportunity.

"I was like wait what, wait we were selected for this? And it's just been an honor. I remember the reaction when I first told them, they were stunned, they were like what did you just say Mr. Starr," said Band Director Kenneth Starr.

The band is putting in plenty of hard work up to the National Memorial Day parade, and they're putting in plenty of hours.

"We're learning the music, we're memorizing it right now so that way we can know it by the time it gets to it," said Starr.

The parade will step off on May 25th, 2020. You can support the band's traveling expenses by donating to their GoFundMe  page here.
