BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park is making sure people of all abilities can enjoy its animals.
Paving and construction work is underway on the park's trails and sidewalks to help the zoo become more A.D.A. compliant.
Visitors will notice chances to the aviary section, wolf exhibit and penguin area.
The park's executive director says making the park more accessible gets the zoo back to it's original mission.
"The whole premise when the park and zoo were founded was for it to be a place where people could come and connect with nature and relax so we think it's important, keeping with the original purpose of the park to find ways to make the park accessible for everyone," said Phillip Ginter, Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park Executive Director.
They changes come as the zoo enters its 144th season.
The zoo is currently open on weekends from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
The park's grand opening is Saturday, April 20th and will feature an EggStraveganza Easter Egg Hunt.
