RALEIGH, N.C. -- It has been a fairly wet winter so far for central North Carolina.
Since December 1, Raleigh's rainfall has been just over an inch above average. Fayetteville has seen more than two and half inches above normal. Those numbers will continue to grow over the next week as up to three inches of rain could fall across the region through the next seven days.
The first wave of rain will arrive Friday afternoon with high temperatures near 50 to the low 50s. Rain will then likely continue through much of Friday night.
Rainfall totals from Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning should range between 0.5" and 1.5". The rain should taper off by sunrise Saturday.
Most of the day Saturday will be dry with the exception of just a few passing light showers at times. Sunshine will be limited Saturday, but we should see plenty of sunshine Sunday.
Saturday's highs should top out in the low to mid 50s. Sunday should warm to near 60.
Spring-like weather is then forecast for the start of next week. Highs will reach near 70 through the first half of the week.
Our next rain chance should come between Wednesday and next Friday.
An additional 1" to 2" of rain could fall from late Wednesday through early next Friday.
