After three years as a reporter for Spectrum News 1 in Greensboro, Mary Helen Jones has made her way to the capital city. She first joined the Spectrum News team in 2018 after a two-year stint as a reporter in South Dakota, and moved to Raleigh in June 2021.

Mary Helen is part of the Spectrum News political team in North Carolina, reporting on issues that impact the entire state. In her time here, she's covered hurricanes, presidential visits, campaign rallies, and the final 2020 presidential debate in Nashville serving as the nationwide Spectrum News correspondent.

Mary Helen is passionate about speaking to people who are impacted by the decisions made every day by our elected and appointed leaders.

When she isn’t working on her next story, it’s a safe bet that Mary Helen can be found with a book in her hand or watching college football in the fall, cheering especially loud for her alma mater, The University of Georgia.
