NORTH CAROLINA -- We have a lot of great Project Weather lessons online now for kids of all ages! Topics include tornadoes, thunderstorms, the atmosphere, and Doppler radar. We've received questions though about ideas for weather lessons for younger kids.
When I visit first grade and kindergarten groups and even pre-schoolers, I often bring a couple of my favorite weather books to read - "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and "Franklin and the Thunderstorm."
If you don't already have these stories at home, you should be able to find them at your local bookstore, online, or even listen to the stories on YouTube. Once you've read the stories, come back to this page and watch the video for a short weather lesson for younger kids based on these two fun stories!
Send your Project Weather suggestions, questions, and ideas to Meteorologist Lee Ringer on Facebook or Twitter. You can also e-mail them to ncweather@charter.com
