The 2024 U.S. Open kicks off this Thursday at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, right here in North Carolina. Pinehurst last hosted in 2014, and this year will be the village’s fourth time hosting the championship. 

The first U.S. Open was held in 1895, and the 124th champion will be crowned this weekend. Last year's winner, Wyndham Clark, will be among 14 former champions that are back this year for another chance to win it all. Included in that list is Martin Kaymer, who has the advantage of competing on the same course where he won his first U.S. Open in 2014. 

Tickets 

All tickets will be delivered to guests digitally via AXS Guest Services and will be accessible through the USGA App. Fans cannot enter the gates without a digital ticket and screenshots will not be accepted. Tickets can be purchased on the U.S. Open website

Children 12 and under can request a complimentary Gallery ticket for each round with a ticketed adult. Children 13-17 can request a complimentary Gallery ticket for practice rounds and can purchase a $50 ticket for championship rounds with a ticketed adult. Each ticketed adult is given a maximum of four children's tickets. 

Active and retired military members can request one complimentary ticket per practice day, and can purchase one ticket at a 50% discount per championship day. All military tickets must be reserved or purchased in advance and tickets are non-transferable. Attendees can register online for access to military tickets. 

Parking and Transportation

There are two complimentary parking lots for fans, RED Lot and BLUE Lot. From either lot, fans can take the complimentary shuttle to and from Pinehurst Resort, which is around 15 minutes away. There is no overnight parking in either lot. All parking on the resort grounds is by permit only, and street parking will be enforced in accordance with regulations in the Village of Pinehurst. Rideshare pick-ups or drop-offs will only be allowed in a designated area of Midland Road, a short walk from Gate 6. 

RED Lot: located north of Pinehurst on NC-73 and recommended for fans using I-74, US-24/27 East, US-1 South or US-15/501 South. 

BLUE Lot: located south of Pinehurst on Sand Pit Road and recommended for fans using US-74 Bypass, I-95, US-1 North or US-501 North. 

NC By Train is running a special train service between Raleigh Union Station and Pinehurst from June 13-16. The train will depart from Raleigh Union Station at 7:00 a.m., make a stop in Cary at 7:15 a.m. and arrive in Pinehurst around 9:10 a.m. In the evening, the train will leave Pinehurst at 6:35 p.m., arrive in Cary around 8:30 p.m. and Raleigh Union Station at 8:45 p.m. From the station, passengers will be able to access the grounds through Gate 10. 

Security & Safety

Attendees will go through a security screening prior to entering the grounds, be sure to avoid bringing any prohibited items to streamline your entry. 

Prohibited items include: weapons, explosives of any kind, tablets or computers, drones, selfie sticks, cameras, noise-producing devices like radios or speakers, non-clear bags larger than 6 x 6 inches, signs or banners, outside food and beverages, glass, coolers, pets, lounge chairs, ladders or step stools, bicycles and scooters or other personal transportation devices. 

However, exceptions to the above list will be made for medical or infant needs.

Allowed items include: clear bags no larger than 12 x 12 inches, empty water bottles 32-ounces or less, trained service animals, personal-care items 3.4 ounces or less and mobility aids for individuals with disabilities. 

The Disability Services Committee will be onsite to assist fans with disabilities, and accessible parking spaces and restrooms will be available. The grounds will also have multiple first-aid stations. 

Weather 

It's going to be a warm weekend in Pinehurst, so make sure to plan for plenty of sun and high temperatures. There will be multiple complimentary water stations set up around the grounds for guests to get a cup of water or fill up reusable bottles. From Thursday to Sunday, temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s, with Friday being the hottest and sunniest day. Fans are encouraged to wear cool clothing and bring hats and sunscreen.
