RALEIGH, N.C. — Michael Marvin knows a good deal when he see’s one, and a half-off day at the North Carolina Kids Consignment Exchange is where some of the best deals are.

What You Need To Know

  •  The annual sale helps parents find like-new and used children's items

  •  Clothes, toys and other essentials were for sale during the weekend

  •  Sunday featured a half-off sale, slashing prices for parents

“Huge space with a lot of stuff," Marvin said about the consignment. "A lot of parents who have grown out of their child’s stuff, to return it back to this is phenomenal for those of us who are continuing to grow in our families.”

With two kids already and another on the way, Marvin and his wife have become all too familiar with the rising cost of raising kids.

“The cost of getting it to the store, and also the manufacturing, it has all gone up significantly," Marvin said. "Certainly since 2020, but even after it seemed like things settled, it continued to climb.”

To offset some of those rising costs, Marvin, like hundreds of parents, came to the Kids Consignment Exchange in Raleigh to browse the thousands of items being sold by parents just like him.

“So much of the other clothing has good life left to it. Especially on the older kids," Marvin said. "This opportunity to come resell that, or to at least share it with others, is greatly beneficial.

While Marvin and his wife joke that they didn’t come prepared with strollers and carts like other parents to load up items, they are still walking away with a handful of clothes, a table and a bike.

“We have quite a bit stocked up from the other two, so hopefully it’s not a huge issue," Marvin said. "Definitely something we would be taking more advantage of here, if we needed it.”
