Just last week, the Wrightsville Beach police confirmed an anti-Semitic attack when unknown suspects defaced a bulletin board with swastikas.

On Monday, the Triangle Jewish community gathered in solidarity at Moore Square Park in downtown Raleigh.

At the event, Rabbi Yitzchock Moully was putting the finishing touches on an enormous mural.

“We got ... the darker elements and the light, and it's ... the idea of light overpowering the darkness," Moully said.

He said the Jewish community could use as much of that light as possible right now.

“I don’t know what the numbers are, but there’s some influencers out there spreading anti-Semitism, and they have more followers than the total number of Jews in the world," Moully said.

Those in attendance wrote positive messages on the mural by Moully.

Activities, like dancing and singing, were also a part of the night of solidarity.

“That's the idea, Am Yisrael Chi the Jewish nation is alive. They throw all sorts of things at us, but we survive, we thrive and we continue," Moully said.
