CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Hundreds of teachers are now ready to start the virtual school year.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation and the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club held their 14th annual "Teacher Supply Store" Thursday morning.

Volunteers bagged school supplies such as markers, post-its, and gift certificates.

"It does make a huge difference because teachers usually spend their own money for classroom supplies," Allison Worthy says.

Usually, teachers would come and pick out their own supplies. However, they had to attend a district-wide virtual meeting and couldn't make it. Worthy also said the pandemic didn't make the service any less exciting.

"I think it's even more exciting because we found a way to get supplies to teachers when they're not in the schools. So, to support them this year is really meaningful for all of us," she adds.

Drivers then dropped off the bags at different schools. Triangle Office Equipment bought and donated the supplies.
