VANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- The class of 2020 is crossing a milestone this weekend as students who worked years to reach this achievement are headed for a new chapter in life.

However, their high school graduation was the first of its kind.

The students were able to graduate in the middle of a pandemic courtesy of a drive-thru style of ceremony.

Despite missing a lot of senior year events, the class of 2020 still got the opportunity to march and their parents to chance to see it.

"It's going to be very important with this group of seniors that we follow through after graduation because they've missed so much during the year that we would normally teach them, as far as what happens after high school," says Principal Rey Horner.

More than 200 students graduated from Vance County High School this year.
