NORTH CAROLINA — The recent outbreak of coronavirus has closed gyms across the state, but that doesn’t mean you have to pause your fitness journey!

Many options are available to enthusiasts who don't want to delay their progress during this time.

State Parks

While facilities at N.C. State Parks are closed, trails remain open.

Bathrooms at parks will also remain open, but sanitation steps should be taken if you plan to use them.

The important thing to remember while visiting state parks is to limit your contact with things that others may have touched, such as outside exercise equipment.

At-Home Fitness Classes

Big fitness names such as Les Mills, Barre3, Daily Burn, and Crunch Live are offering free trials for their at-home programs; many of which do not require any equipment.

At-Home Gyms

While we wouldn't necessarily recommend that you spend a fortune on an at-home gym, it might not hurt to get basic equipment such as mats, bands, and freeweights if you have room to exercise at your house.

Big fitness-supply stores such as DICK’s Sporting Goods and Academy Sports are offering pick-up options.

DICK’s is even offering free no-contact pick-up at some of its locations.

And, of course, you can always go for walks or bike rides while limiting your contact with the public.
