Typical January temperatures are in the forecast this week. Normal, or average, highs for late January are in the low 50s for the Triangle and the mid 50s for the Sandhills. Tuesday afternoon's temperatures should be right around those normal highs.
Tuesday's mostly sunny weather will give way to clear conditions through Tuesday night. That will allow lows to drop to the low and mid 30s by sunrise Wednesday.
Highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s are forecast for the rest of the work week.
Late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning will bring a small chance for a light shower, but many locations may stay dry. There will be a higher chance for rain at the end of the week and the start of the weekend.
Showers now appear likely for Friday night through Saturday morning. During that time, much of central North Carolina should see around 0.5" to 1.5" of rain.
