CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. - Fort Bragg leaders shared with Spectrum News what it takes to get soldiers ready before deploying overseas.
- Soldiers go through a process before deployment
- Their mental and physical health are checked
- Leaders also make sure families are OK
Troops are put through soldier readiness processing which consists of mental, medical, and family preparedness.
Officials said soldiers will take a 40-minute test to evaluate their mental capability. Then medical crews will ensure troops are immunized and physically ready for each upcoming mission.
Finally, Fort Bragg leaders sync up with the soldiers' families to make sure they're taken care of before their loved ones leave.
"It's truly a blessing to be able to do a job that you truly enjoy and know that it's actually making an impact on families and soldiers," Supervisor for Mobilization and Deployment of Fort Bragg Martha Brown said.
Fort Bragg officials said once a unit deploys, there's always a back-up unit going through the readiness process just in case.
