Take some time Thursday to find your rain gear.

Some of us may need it by evening. We will all need it for late Friday and Saturday.

A developing system to our west will keep most of the rain west of central North Carolina during the day Thursday.  We will see increasing cloudiness though leading to a cloudy afternoon.  Highs should range from the mid and upper 50s near the Triangle to near 60 and the low 60s in the Sandhills.

Scattered showers will be possible around the Triangle and locations to the north this evening.  The chance for showers appears lower for the Sandhills.  With mostly cloudy skies through the night, temperatures will just drop to the upper 40s and low 50s for overnight lows.

A warm front lifting into the state Friday morning will bring cloud skies for the last day of the week with occasional showers.  Temperatures will warm to the upper 60s to near 70 in the Triangle and to the mid 70s in the Sandhills.

A more widespread rain will arrive in central North Carolina for Friday night and Saturday morning.

Spotty showers will then continue through Saturday afternoon and evening.

The rain should completely come to an end Saturday night.  Rainfall totals from late Thursday through Saturday are expected to range from a quarter of an inch to one inch across central North Carolina.

Sunshine and cooler weather will return for the end of the weekend.
