CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. - A new seven-acre park is coming to Hope Mills, and town leaders want the public's input on the design.
In mid-December, a consulting firm shared three ideas of what Heritage Park could look like. The first is turning the area across from Hope Mills Lake into an amphitheater or event space. Next is making the park a place to learn about the history of Hope Mills. The last option is bringing in a nature trail, garden, and play area.
Consultants are expected to take everyone's comments in January 2020 and present it to town commissioners.
"I liked where you could see the amphitheater from up here so that you could actually be up here and see what's going on down there," Hope Mills Mayor Jackie Warner said. "And that would be with the amphitheater being on the creek side."
