ROXBORO, N.C. -- One man is dead and two others are fighting for their lives after a deadly shooting in Roxboro.
- Police are investigating a triple shooting in Roxboro.
- The suspects are believed to be at-large and armed and dangerous.
- The deceased man has been identified as Edgar Dewayne Yancey.
Police responded to a house at 700 South Foushee Street and Nichols Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators, at this point, say the shooting took place inside the home and a 36-year-old man is dead. Two others are said to be critically injured.
By Friday morning, the deceased victim had been identified as Edgar Dewayne Yancey.
During a Thursday press conference, Roxboro's police chief, David Hess, said the initial 911 call indicated that four people were shot, but police cannot confirm that it was exactly four.
The suspects are believed to be at-large and armed and dangerous. Police are determining whether there are multiple shooters and if the victims knew who shot them.
"The senseless act of this shooting left a couple of people suffering from critical injuries. It is heartbreaking to tell you one person died on the scene from this shooting. Investigators are working several leads in this case. We do not know the motive at this point or of the victim or the suspect and or suspects knew each other. Our investigators are working those leads,” said Hess.
The victims' names are set to be released by police at 10 a.m. Friday.
