FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A Fayetteville high school student is recovering after being bitten on a school bus late September.
- Nolan Wood has autism and rarely speaks
- A report was filed a day later and the student who bit Nolan was charged with assault
- Nolan's mother was not allowed to see the video of her son being bitten
Sixteen-year old Nolan Wood goes to 71st High School in Fayetteville, has autism and rarely speaks. His mom, Rebecca Wood, went to the school resource officer who was investigating the case for answers.
She found out the officer didn't file a report until the next day, but the other student was charged with assault.
The case was dismissed a day after Nolan was bitten.
Rebecca said school leaders refused to show her video of the incident.
"This is the most irritating thing because it's making me wonder what happened," Wood said. "If you're not telling me and then you're telling me I have to get an attorney to get a subpoena to get a police report regarding my son in an injury he got? That's crazy."
In a statement, Cumberland County Schools said:
When an allegation of inappropriate conduct is brought to our attention, we investigate thoroughly and respond in accordance with board policy and applicable laws. Due to student privacy laws, we are unable to discuss the details of this situation.
Rebecca said she's taking legal action.
