WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem City Council is one step closer to picking a new name for the Dixie Classic Fair.
- The city council held a meeting Monday to discuss removing "Dixie" from the name because it has ties to slavery.
- Some of the proposed names are the Dash Classic, The Tobacco City Classic, Carolina Foothills Fair and the Sweet Tea Classic Fair.
- City officials plan to reveal the rebranding in October 2020 for the 2021 fair.

They're wroking with a consultant and asked the public for name suggestions.

Tuesday, they'll present a resolution for city council to move forward with hiring a marketing consultant to help rename the fair.
