"Sleep in Heavenly Peace" is a national organization with an active chapter in Durham.

The organization funds and builds bunk beds, then delivers them to kids in need.

They hope to partner with area churches, businesses, and volunteer groups to meet the growing need. Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cary has already partnered with the organization and even donates hand-sewn quilts.

"Build with us, and actually hands on , from scratch,  build this bed and then deliver it to the kids," encourages Durham chapter president Robert " Sarge" Sweeney. "Once you deliver it to the young child, who doesn't have a bed, it's life-changing."

The next build will take place at the Durham Housing Authority on August 17th.

They expect to build 22 beds and deliver them the same day.
