HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. – A murder investigation is underway in Halifax County after a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was murdered Monday night.

  • A 21-year-old Domino's delivery driver was murdered in Halifax County.
  • Two people have been arrested for the murder.
  • The act is described as "senseless."

According to authorities, James Lee, Jr., 21, went out on a delivery Monday night and never returned to work. Concerned, his coworkers went looking for him and found his body.

 

 

Lee was found on Branch Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds.

On Tuesday, warrants were issued on Cortez Malik Powell, 18, for murder and armed robbery. Powell was arrested Wednesday evening and is in the Halifax County Detention Center with no bond.

Another suspect, Nashown Alston, was arrested later and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

 

 

No motive for the killing has been released, but in an emotional statement released by the sheriff, who previously worked for Domino's, the act has been described as “senseless.”
